Collection: Harp seal

Certified harp seal from subsistence hunting by indigenous Inuit hunters, legal under the EU exception for importing seal skin products. Each skin comes with a barcode showing origin, please do not remove barcode and keep it with any products you want to make out of the skin.

Harp seal skins are soft and silky to the touch if you go with the flow of the hair, but more course if you go against it. The fur is still somewhat water resistant but the tanning process does strip it of some natural oils. This is necessary to produce a long lasting and durable skin. Seal skin is extremely tough and can be used for daily wear. It won't shed or break.

Please note that since these animals lived in the wild it's pretty much guaranteed they have damaged areas to the skin. Skins without or with few damages are near impossible to get a hold of and are also very expensive, as these are the skins that end up in seal skin coats and generally don't make it to market.

Know your laws before ordering. I am located in the European Union and these skins are 100% legal here, but I don't know the laws for non-EU countries.
